Now, most of the top boxers are eyeing to face him. It will be matter of great honor and pride if anyone can beat Manny Pacquiao. But I think that it will not be an easy task to defeat him.

However, Miguel Cotto is also a tough contestant for Pacquiao. He is WBO welterweight champion. It seems that weight is the big issue for fight because weight limit is not fixed yet. While Cotto is willing to drop to 144 there Pacquiao may demand a weight limit of 142. On the other hand, Cotto will have to face Joshua Clottey on June 13. Bernard Hopkins Still No. 1 in Light Heavyweight, but Chad Dawson Closes on

Bernard Hopkins may not have fought since his victory over Kelly Pavlik last October, but the American boxer still holds the no. 1 place in light heavyweight division. However, Chad Dawson came very close to retain the top spot from Hopkins with two back-to-back victories over Antonio Tarver. However, most of the panel members as well as the editorial board decided not to bring any change in the light heavyweight ranking as most of them thought Chad Dawson has not done enough to replace Hopkins at the top of the ranking.

I do not think that Bernard Hopkins would have been very much disappointed even if he was dropped to no. 2 position in ranking, because he is mostly focused on middleweight division. In fact, Bernard Hopkins has been the Middleweight World Champion for 10 years now, and during his 10-year reign as Middleweight champion, the American boxer defended his title for a record 20 times. At 44, he is now the oldest ever boxer to hold the middleweight championship title.

Ricky Hatton will quit or Not?

British boxer Ricky Hatton is now thinking about his retirement from boxing. He is now confusion about his career. This great boxer has not yet finalized that what he will do. What led him to end his glorious career is a defeat against Philippine boxer Manny Pacquiao. Both these two great boxer faced each other in Las Vegas to defend the title. If he decides to take retirement then we can see him in a “farewell” fight in Manchester and it can be this summer. If Hatton takes this kind of decision then it will be obviously a wrong decision. He should not quit his career only for one defeat. However, it is sure that he will not have to struggle for lack of money. I request him to re-think his decision.

Manny Pacquiao: Among the Greatest Boxers of All Time?

Manny Pacquiao is undoubtedly the best boxer of current time and the number of pound-for-pound boxer at this moment. Following his recent triumph over Ricky Hatton, the Filipino boxer is now considered, by many, to be one of the greatest boxers of all time. With five world titles in five different weight divisions, Manny Pacquiao has all the qualities, skill and talent to become one of the greatest ever boxer of all time. However, I do not think that the time has come to pick him one of the greatest ever boxers of all time yet.

There is no question regarding his talent, skill, power and determination, but I think, he needs to continue his dominance for few more years to be termed as one of the greatest boxers of all time. I know that some of you may not agree with me on this fact, but still I think that he has not done enough to be among the boxers like Muhammad Ali. However, I believe that he could achieve this distinction by the end of his career if he can consistently dominate in boxing world.

Chad Dawson Defended IBF, IBO Light Heavyweight Titles against Antonio Tarver

Chad Dawson has successfully defended his IBF, IBO light heavyweight titles, winning a unanimous decision over Antonio Tarver in a rematch. Earlier last October, Dawson posted an easier victory over the same opponent, but this time, Dawson faced stronger challenge from Tarver.

Dawson, at 26, was much more accurate and fast compared to Tarver. However, you can not say that the Dawson had all out dominance in the fight. In fact, Tarver appeared in aggressive mode and flashed more punches, but it was not enough to stop Dawson from another victory. With this victory, Dawson’s professional record improved to 28-0 (17 knock outs), while Tarver’s record went down to 27-6 (19 knock outs).

You already know that Ricky Hatton has suffered a humiliating 2nd-round knock out defeat at the hands of world’s best pound-for-pound boxer Manny Pacquiao. However, do you think that Hatton is the ultimate loser in the bout? Well, in terms of performance inside the ring, it is Hatton who is the apparent loser, but if you take the financial gain of Hatton from the bout into consideration, then you have to admit that Hatton is not the ultimate loser in the fight. Why?

Ricky Hatton may have lost the match, but the Briton added $12 million to his bank account through his much-publicized match which is dubbed as “The Battle of East and West.” So, you can say that Hatton is the loser in the bout from all aspects. However, to me, the boxing fans, who bought the match tickets for a high price and paid a large amount to get access to the match on television, are the ultimate loser in the game.
