Ricky Hatton Looking to Face Juan Manuel Marquez, Mayweather Jr. after Beating Manny Pacquaio

Ricky Hatton has expressed his interest to take on Floyd Mayweather, Jr in 2010 Summer in England. In fact, the star British fighter is gearing up to avenge for his defeat at the hands of Floyd Mayweather, Jr in 2007 in America. However, before facing Mayweather, the only boxer who could defeat Hatton so far in professional circuit, Ricky Hatton would like to face Juan Manuel Marquez, only if he can defeat Manny Pacquaio in a much-awaited junior welterweight bout scheduled to take place in May.

Well, it is not yet confirmed if Mayweather, Jr would return to boxing in July. If he really makes a come back in July, Juan Manuel Marquez is reportedly the most likely opponent for the American. If Marquez lines up to face Mayweather Jr in July, Hatton would not be able to face the Mexican boxer in July, and thus, he would have to face Mayweather Jr. at the end of this year in stead of Summer 2010.

Boxing Fights of February 2009

February did not have any high-profile boxing bout, but still there were some exciting fights inside the ring. The fight between Juan Manuel Marquez and Juan Diaz was definitely the most exciting affair in the ring in February with Marquez knocking out Diaz in the ninth round of the bout. With this victory, Marquez got off to a good start to 2009, following a successful 2008 during which he clinched titles at 126 and 130 pounds. Many think that the nine-round knock out win against Juan Diaz is perhaps Marquez’s best ever win in his career.

Well, there were some other notable fights in February too. Nate Campbell won over Ali Funeka, but vacated his titles as he failed to meet the weight division required to retain the titles. Kelly Pavlik successfully retained his World middleweight title by defeating Marco Antonio Rubio.
