Malaysian Boxers Eyeing on Beijing Olympics Games 2008

For the first time, Malaysia may have a boxer at the Olympics Games. Malaysian Amateur Boxing Federation (MABF) are planning to send four best boxers of the country to the Asian qualifier to win the ticket of Beijing Olympics Games 2008. Mohd Zamzai Azizi is expected to have the best chance to become the first boxer to play in Olympics Games.

The Star reported:

MABF secretary Maulud Othman said that they expect Mohd Zamzai to win the ticket from the Asian qualifying rounds, which will be held in Bangkok from Jan 24-Feb 3.

“It will be a huge boost to the sport in Malaysia if we can have a boxer in the Olympics. All he (Zamzai) needs to do is to qualify for the final,” said Maulud.

MABF are waiting for the approval from the National Sports Council (NSC) to enable their four national elite boxers, currently in training camp at the Keramat Sports Complex, to compete in the qualifiers.
