Philippine Wants More Boxers to Get the Ticket of Beijing Olympics Games

Manny Pacquiao, of Philippine, has already been a star of world boxing. Now, the Philippine boxing officials are eager to have more berths from the country in Beijing 2008 Olympics Games. They are very much determined to increase the number of berth in the Olympics Games. For that, they even appointed two professional doctors in order to make their players fit both physically and mentally.

Inquirer reported:

"Our team is both mentally and physically prepared, you can be sure of that," said national boxing head Manny Lopez, shortly before the opening of the Asian Olympic Qualifying tournament here.

Lopez, who got embroiled in a controversy after he ordered a protest-walkout of his fighters during the Southeast Asian Games in Nakhon Racthasima last month, said the two doctors have gone out of their way to push Filipino fighters to near-perfect form.

It is the first time this has been done for a national boxing team, and Lopez said he's certain it would bear fruit.
