Floyd Mayweather vs Juan Manuel Marquez: Welterweight Fight on 18 July 2009

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has announced his return to professional boxing after his 16-month absence from boxing. Former pound-for-pound king revealed that he had felt somebody needed to keep boxing up and running. That is why, he has decided to return to the boxing ring. He has also signed up for a welterweight fight with Mexico’s Juan Manuel Marquez on July 18 in what would be his come back match. Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been featured by his own boxing promotional company Mayweather Promotions, while Marquez has been featured by Golden Boy Promotions which is owned by former boxing great Oscar De La Hoya.

Mayweather’s return to boxing would fuel up another highly-anticipated bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and the current pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao who knocked out Ricky Hatton on May 2, 2009 in Las Vegas. Mayweather would like to retain his world titles, but it would not be easy for the American boxer to be back with his top form following a 16-month absence from boxing.
