Venezuelan boxer Edwin Valero is going to face WBC lightweight champion Antonio Pitalua tonight (4 April 2009). The bout will take place at the Frank Erwin Centre in Austin, Texas with Pitalua’s WBC lightweight title up for grab. This is going to be the first fight for unbeaten Edwin Valero in USA. Edwin Valero holds a fearsome professional record of 24 wins without any loss and all his victories came through knock-out. More importantly, Valero knocked out his opponents in the first round on 19 occasions. In August 2008, Valero clinched the WBA Super Featherweight title, knocking out Vicente Mosquera in a tenth-round fight.

Colombian boxer Antonio Pitalua also has a very successful professional boxing career with 46 wins including 40 knock outs and 3 defeats. The 39-year-old clinched the vacant WBC lightweight title by technically knocking out Mexican boxer José Armando Santa Cruz in September 2008. Now, it will be interesting to see if Antonio Pitalua can defend his title, or Edwin Valero can continue his unbeaten run in professional boxing.
