Miguel Cotto is one of the most influential fighters of welterweight division at this moment and he is now going to face Clottey in his bid to become the top rated welterweight fighter. Miguel Cotto is the three time world champion who earlier held WBO junior welterweight and WBA welterweight before winning the reigning WBO welterweight title, defeating Michael Jennings in a fifth-round knock out in February 2009. The Puerto Rican clinched his first ever world championship title in 2004 when he pulled off a knock out victory over undefeated Kelson Pinto to win the WBO junior welterweight title. He vacated the title after successfully defending it on six occasions in order to ascend to the welterweight division. Cotto then defeated Carlos Quintana to clinch his second career title, a WBA welterweight title, which he defended four times against Oktay Urkal, Zab Judah, Shane Mosley and Alfonso Gómez, but lost the title being defeated at the hands of Antonio Margarito, his only defeat in professional boxing career. Miguel Cotto’s overall career record is very impressive with 33 wins including 27 knock outs and the solitary defeat to Margarito.

Joshua Clottey won his IBF welterweight title in August 2009 by knock out Zab Judah. Clottey has been in excellent form now as he is heading into the fight against Cotto on a five-match winning run which includes victories over the like of Diego Corrales, two time former world champion, undefeated Shamone Alvarez and Felix Flores. With 35 wins including 21 knock outs, and 2 defeats, Joshua Clottey also holds a convincing professional record.

Unlike many other fighters, Cotto and Clottey have enough respect for each other. However, both the boxers are hopeful about their victory in the fight and seem to be very confident ahead of the bout.
